Densil Eamitt Tyner, age 89 of St. Joe, Arkansas passed away Friday, October 14, 2011 in Harrison, Arkansas.
He was born at St. Joe on September 18, 1922 to Jess and Bessie Wyatt Tyner.
Densil married Janavee Baker on October 18, 1947 at Bear Creek, Arkansas. They have spent the last 64 years hand in hand and side by side. They had a love that most couples can only dream of having.
Desnis was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater as a Combat Infantryman. At the close of the war he worked as a telephone switchboard operator. For his service to his country he received the World War II Victory Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and two Overseas Bars.
Densil spent his whole life working and providing for his family. Throughout his life he held many jobs. They include working in the CCC camps in Idaho, the wheat fields in Kansas, a mechanic in California, and a construction welder on dams throughout the Midwest. He went on to retire to his farm, where he enjoyed farming, fishing, and most of all his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sherail Tyner Saling; a brother, Frank Tyner and his wife, Marge; an infant brother, Charlie; a sister, Hazel Tyner Campbell; an infant sister, Inas Belle; his father and mother-in-law, Sheridan and Chloe Newton Baker; and a sister-in-law, Sherlene Baker.
His survivors include his wife, Janavee; his daughter, Betty Tyner Eddings and husband Junior of St. Joe; a granddaughter. LaJana Saling Nixon and husband Roy of Springfield, MO; a grandson, Tyner Eddings and Amanda Williams of Harrison; a grandson, Zachary Eddings and his wife Kayla of St. Joe; two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Jeremy; and his honorary great-grandchildren, Hunter, Dallas and Shelby.
He is also survived by a brother, Barney Tyner and his wife, Veleda of Bellefonte, AR; a sister, Lurline Kovich of San Jose, CA; three brothers-in-law, Henly Campbell of St. Joe, Donald and Mary Baker of Bartlett, TN, Devon Baker of Hot Springs; and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held 2 P.M. Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Osborne Cemetery at St. Joe.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews, Tyner Eddings, Zachary Eddings, Roy Nixon, Kenneth Baker, Doug Campbell, and Randy Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers are nephews and nieces, Colleen Breedlove, Jannie Manes, Kevin Cooper, John Tyner, Barney Tyner, Jr., Elizabeth Lange, Stan Tyner, Kelly Tyner, Eugene Baker, and Curtis Baker.
Visitation was Monday, October 17, 2011 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
